General Info

+ What is it?

Charleston Beer Week (CBW) is comprised of 50+ different events, over 10 days, taking place all over the Charleston tri-county area. As a participant, you can attend any number of events that tickle your fancy, all of which will be posted to this website leading up to the kick-off. Some events may require tickets, while the majority are "pay as you go", meaning you're free to enjoy as little or as much as you'd like of the week!

+ What's the purpose? Is it only about local beer?

The purpose of CBW is to promote our craft beer community as a whole, which will no doubt feature all 35+ of our amazing local breweries and brewpubs. With that said, we also encourage diversity and definitely look forward to other regional & national craft breweries participating!

+ What kind of events can I look forward to?

Events are all independently organized, so we often won't know until they have been registered, but based on past experience you can expect a little bit of everything: beer dinners, special releases, brewery events, educational events, food pairings, meet the brewers, outdoor events, style showcase, tap takeovers, festivals, and charity fund raisers.

Sponsorships & Events

+ Is there a limit on the number of sponsors?

YES. There's a maximum of 4 KEG sponsors and 10 CASK sponsors. There are no limits on PINT or FLIGHT sponsors.

+ Is there a limit on the number of events for the week?

YES. There is a limit of 8 events per day with venues limited to two events for the entire "week". We normally add a couple of extra events on the weekends to add more variety. The main reason for this is to focus on quality over quantity!

+ When is sponsorship or event registration payment due?

Immediately upon registration. Sponsorship and event slots are limited, and payment secures your spot.

+ How do I sign up as a sponsor or to host an official event?

We have dedicated pages for registering for sponsorship, and registering an event. We then review your request and contact you with payment options.

+ Do I have to be a sponsor to hold an event?

NO. Any venue in town can host an event for the $100 registration fee. All of our sponsorships come with an included event slot (or two), but it's not mandatory to host an event.

+ What if I’m an out-of-town brewery, or a distributor, and I want to hold an event?

Great! If you find a friendly venue (bar, store, etc.) that you want to work with and plan an event, have at it! We only require that someone involved in the event submits the event info for us to vet, and someone submits payment.

+ What kind of events are allowed?

Use your imagination! That said, we will vet your event submissions to ensure they make sense for Charleston Beer Week before any payment changes hands, and we may deny events at our discretion. The only hard-and-fast rules: they must showcase craft beer and take place in the Charleston tri-county area.

+ Craft beer only?

Yep! We go by the Brewers Association definition of craft beer and encourage our small, independent breweries to get involved with CBW.

+ What if I have to cancel my event before CBW?

We'll work with you to get the word out, and/or cancel & refund any tickets to your customers. Please note though that sponsor & event fees are non-refundable.

+ What if the day I wanted is already booked?

We will inform you and suggest an alternate day before any payment changes hands.

+ Will you accept payment-in-kind for sponsorship or event registration?

Probably not, but it doesn’t hurt to ask.

+ What if there's another hurricane, global pandemic, or alien invasion?

We'll do our best to re-schedule the individual events that may be forced to cancel, and will assist them with getting the word out!

+ I'm running pint specials all week - does this make me part of CBW? Can I use the logo to promote?

You're free to do so "in celebration of CBW" obviously, but only events on our calendar are considered "official" CBW events, which we market & promote. Do not use the logo to promote any unofficial events, please and thank you!

Swag (Sponsors & Official Events)

+ Is swag purchased on top of the sponsor package?

Your sponsorship will already come with some swag (see sponsorship packages for details) but you're welcome to purchase additional swag if you'd like, people love da swag!

+ Do official events get any swag?

Negative, Ghost Rider! Events would need to purchase swag in addition to the $100 event registration fee.

+ Can we select the shirt sizes, colors, etc?

Yes, we'll ask for this info at a later date and will do our best to get ya exactly what you want.

+ What if I want to sell the shirts and/or glasses?

Swag is meant to be given away at your events, your customers will love ya for it, trust us! We would not suggest that you sell them. If you sell them, we can’t legally taser you, but we’ll think about it.

Swag (General Public)

+ How can I score some swag?

Attend one of our official events and you will have a good chance to grab some! The only guaranteed way will be direct from our online store (shirts & stickers only) though, so don't delay!

+ Can I buy swag at one of the events?

Nope, the swag at our events will be given away!

Planning Meetings & Volunteers

+ How do I get involved?

We encourage any local, craft beer friendly business to get in touch with us so that we can add you to our Google Group. Through this group, we keep all of our planners up-to-date with announcements, upcoming meeting schedules/agenda/notes, and other related info. If you're interested, contact us here.

+ Can I volunteer?

Yes! We mostly need volunteers to help us distribute posters/postcards around the area, but may also need additional help along the way. We'll be happy to pay in free beer, high fives, and extra swag! Reach out to us and we'll put you on our volunteer list.
